Merging/piping checkbox answers into radio button options

Question:

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to set up a question for a survey. I want to be able to pipe answers selected from a checkbox question into answers for a radio button questions.

The 1st question is as follows:
12. In the past 5 years, have you been a patient in any of the following circumstances?
[Mark all that apply.]
0 Yes – A
0 Yes – B
0 Yes – C
0 Yes – D
0 Yes – E
0 Yes – F
0 No – I have not been a patient in any of the above circumstances in the past 5 years
0 Prefer not to answer

Then I would like the question answers that were selected to show up in this question:

12-A. Which of the following circumstances was your most recent experience?
0 A
0 B
0 C
0 D
0 E
0 F
0 Prefer not to answer

Also if piping is not an option; is it possible to have the second question(12-A) show up only if the respondent chooses more than one of the answers in question 12?

Thanks!

Hi

There is no way to merge checkbox answers like this - they will always merge in as a single response, separated by commas.

What I would suggest is that you actually set up your follow-up question as a matrix item with a single radio button column. You can then add conditions to each row to show or hide the row based on whether that option was chosen in the previous question. I set up a sample so you can see what I mean:

I also attached the xml so you can pull it into your installation if you want.

If this looks like it would work for you, I would definitely still submit a bunch of test responses and make sure the data export and reporting is something you can work with before making it live.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Sarah
